Cash via credit(card). I always pay credit card, monthly.

We use our rewards VISA card for almost all of our spending, year 'round.

Cash! We vowed that after we paid off our debt -- thanks to the Lord -- that we would pay cash for most everything. Obviously there are certain things, but Christmas on credit card, no. I can't justify it. :-)

Cash, via credit card. IE: We only use the card to spend what we already have sitting in the bank. If the money is not there, we aint buyin'.

Cash, primarily via debit card. Most of the extended family stuff I was able to take care of this summer so it spread things out nicely. No credit cards except one store card that doesn't have a balance so no interest as long as I pay it off right away. And I think I already got everything (and paid it off) from them I need to buy anyway.

This. My credit cards all pay cash back of some sort, so paying with the card while not paying interest on the card saves me money.

Cash, we are debt free other than a small car payment and our house and intend to stay that way.

Um, cash via debit card. I've actually just been shopping as I go, I have a bit of leeway in my grocery budget due to my prolific use of coupons so I've been using that extra money to buy Christmas gifts.

Neither. I don't "do" holiday spending.

But if I did, it would be via cash, as I also don't use credit cards.

I am using cash. I did this last year and it worked great. I did not spend the little extra because if it was not in the envelope, then there was no more buying. LOL! The only thing that bugged me was carrying that much cash, as I buy for my father too, so I end up with lots of cash. We usually exchange gifts with my family, but I am going to check in with them and see if they still want to do that.

We have two credit cards for emergencies only. God is pretty clear about the fact that He doesn't want us to be in debt.
My family will not get everything they have asked for, but I will have the satisfaction of knowing that I have not enslaved myself to a lender for the sake of giving 'stuff' to my loved ones. In doing so, I believe that I am honoring the commands of the Most High...

In leaner years, our gifts are made by hand. Oddly, those are the ones that seem to be held in the highest esteem by others... My children seem to remember and use the toys, picture frames, decorations, and furniture I made for them long after the "X-Box 360" began to spend most of it's time collecting dust!

I don't even use the cards when I know I have the cash available to pay them off... No amount of 'rewards' is worth what could happen if something goes wrong!

Anyways, that is just me... I do know MANY people who will end up using their cards to fund Christmas giving, and unfortunately, I'm going to see a couple of them coming to us for money to help them out because they cannot afford to make the credit-card payments and feed their children at the same time... It's just one of the problems with our society putting so much emphasis on 'Stuff'...

Look at my post elsewhere. Use cash unless you want to participate in marketing surveys. When ever you use plastic or a check (your bank routing number and account are on it with your name, address and phone number)you give the store and the merchandise maker all your info. If the store is not protected, criminals with laptops and scanners do sit in parking lots and pirate the stores transmissions. Merry Christmas, you have at least participated in a market survey, at the most, your ID has been stolen.

Some of you have the right idea, it's hard to trace dead presidents.

Neither. By the time I pay bills and property taxes (due Dec. 20th), I won't have any money left for Christmas gifts.

Not sure what everyone else answered...but mine is pretty straight forward...what we always do.

Cash..if we don't have the money for it..we don't buy it. We set a budget for gifts and we stay within that amount. Period.

Ditto! We do use our credit card year round for almost everything as the rewards from the cc helps pay down our mortgage - only 1% of purchase, but if we're going to buy something anyway, then every bit helps. But the same purchase restrictions apply as you stated

Cash. Only thing we owe is for real estate... pay cash for cars, boat, and all other toys.

Cash via debit card.

I no longer have credit cards. Learned that lesson the hard, hard way.
