I'm not ready for February yet either. I'm still having to be careful to write 2010 on things.

Once again, the year is starting to gain speed! I have birthdays this month too. I still need to buy a card for my BIL:, MIL's b'day is in 3 days, & my Dh's b'day at the end of the month. And Valentine's day somewhere in there.

I think that I have been on the longest date this weekend. On Friday, we had planned to go out to a restaurant that we'd heard about for quite a while. We wound up not staying because they only had one vegetarian dish and didn't substitute the meat in any of the other dishes with tofu (it was an Asian/tropical restaurant). We did go to another place that did have similar dishes and had the tofu option, so Dh was satisfied with that. Then we thought we'd go see "Avatar", however, it was a very late showing and wouldn't have us out until after 1AM. Plus, I was getting text messages from Dd who was babysitting Ds, that she wasn't feeling well. So we went to WalMart and then got some coffee and went home. Soon after that Dd became sick, so going home when we did was a good call. On Saturday, I went to get groceries (which can be a lengthy trip), and when I came home, I was tired, so Dh went to TacoTime to pick up dinner. Then yesterday afternoon, Dh and I ventured out to see "Avatar" again (Dd was feeling well enough to babysit), however, the showing that we wanted to see was sold out, so we bought tickets for the next showing, left to do some shopping and then had dinner at Chili's and finally saw this movie in 3D (I told Dh that we looked like a Buddy Holly convention invaded the theater).

So it was kind of the longest date we've ever had. Dh commented on Sunday that it sort of reminded him of when we were dating and were free to just go out to eat (which we really didn't do much of back then). I agreed, but noted that the only difference is that we're older and can't stay up as late as we used to.

So today, Dd is feeling better, and everyone can have school,

Bagel--sounds like fun! But, I hear you on the not staying out late... The womans' gathering Friday night we all started yawning around 9:30 and all left by 10!

Growing up very near to the home of George Washington, February was always a special month to us. Alexandria, Virginia always had a George Washington's Day Parade.

I attended Mount Vernon High School and was a tuba player in the school band. We usually ended up participating in the parade which included marching on the old original cobblestones upon which George Washington, himself, probably drove. It's not great footing for marching; but, still very cool to experience.

I was saddened when they officially changed the name to Presiden't Day. But, it's understandable. After all, how many holidays can the Federal Government afford?

President's Day is February 15th this year. We are taking two days off school for it this year.

I believe President's Day is always the 3rd Monday in February.

Thank you, I'll try to remember that. I have so many other things that seem to demand my thinking abilities, and I let the calender take care of keeping some of these holidays straight

Today is the first day of my low iodine diet... again. I have to go in for more radiation and isolation. I will be celebrating president's day by swallowing a bunch of iodine and being quarantined. LOL!

It isn't all bad...

I get to spend a few days where in an expensive quiet room with my laptop, no laundry, no cooking, no cleaning, having all my food brought to me on a tray, and endless hot showers, and being encouraged to eat candy!

lol God bless you, Ellie-Mae. May your attitude remain. May you be a ray of sunshine and a blessing from God to the people at the hospital.

I will be happy to continue the February chat as soon as I figure out where January went.

I'll be praying for you, Ellie.

I am going to Vegas in 9 days . . . not that I'm counting or anything! I have another week off after I get back, and I'm considering going to see a friend in Alabama. It's one of those trips that really doesn't make sense - I will have to drive nonstop and will only get to spend a couple of days - but I really want to go. I haven't 100% decided yet, but knowing me I'll say to heck with it all and jump in the car at the last minute.

Ds4 has lead a deprived childhood. He's 11yo. Just this morning for the very first time he watched "Conjunction Junction". Poor child. He said it's now stuck in his brain. GOOD!!! That's why I made him watch it!

I'm getting my hair cut tomorrow. I've been talking about it since November. At church on Sunday a little 8yo girl talked about donating her hair, how good it made her feel. Well, it's about time I did it! I'm thinking I have 10-12 inches. It's so long now that I'm having trouble stuffing it all under my swim cap!

Dad is having shoulder replacement surgery today. Mom said it's no big deal, but I think there's more to it. She's the queen of denial. About a year ago he tore the muscles in his upper arm. That ended up necosing and on vacation he had a massive abcess. Luckily, the doctor on the ship was able to treat it. But, a complication was that the bone in his shoulder has died. He'll be in the hospital for at least a couple days.

his, praying for your Dad.

Today we did Algebra and Life Skills. Ds now knows how to put out a fire on an old engine. See, there was a squirrel who built a nest in the carb. i got the straw out and then we poured gas into the carb to start the motor home. Well, to make a long story short, the thing started on fire. Ds had to run and get the fire extinguisher and we got it out. The motor home runs Ok, too. I was praying and beating the flames at the same time!!!
BTW, if you have a fire extinguisher that has a piece of plastic that holds the pin in, take the plastic off now. If ya ever have to put out a fire, the pin will come out a lot easier!!
Ellie, praying for you. BTW, everyone can CHAT with you while you are in the hospital.

BTW, The things I have been worried about-1. Getting the motor home started so i can get it out of here. 2. finding another place to live. Well, Ds1 said that we could stay here if I could help him with his lot rent for his mobile home. I can do that. His company was taken over by another one and they keep messing up his commision checks and "forgetting" to add it to his regular check. Now, he has a new baby and a lot of medical expenses for his wife...It's a shame that a hard working person can just fall through the gaps even when he has medical insurance. I just feel like drs and hslpitals should take what they get from the insurance as a total payment instead of charging thousands more...

Mom called to tell me that Dad's surgery went well. I was in a meeting and coudln't talk long. She'll call back later this afternoon.

Judy--glad you got the fire out! At least you remembered to undo the latch. Last time I needed to use one, I forgot and ripped the whole thing out of the wall!

His, I'm glad you're dad's OK.

I'm glad you can stay with your son, Judy. I've been praying for something to come along. Of course your dh will be able to figure out where you are, but I hope you will stay strong and not talk to him.

We are back home . . . we have water and my truck runs great. The back heater in the truck hasn't worked since I got it - Steve said he'd look at it "if I trust him." Yeah, like that's a problem! I now get to catch up on all the laundry that wasn't done when we didn't have water. Oh joy.

Nah, it's just the school menu.
