Great article. Sometimes we forget about heart disease. I hope everyone who deals with this issue is getting the help they need.

It has apples on it - oh wait, that was a different question.

Happy February everyone. If I'm feeling a little bit crazy, can I call off sick? If I'm sick of my house being a pigsty can I call in sick?

Never mind, the hubby is actually GETTING sick, so I wouldn't get anything done anyhow.

Mine's a disaster too. But do you think I can get anyone to help with that? Not a chance!

I'm so tired of everyone thinking that it MY job to make sure EVERYTHING is out of Puppy's reach. Aryn blamed me when her DS cord got chewed beyond repair. Ty got all angry when his shoe got pee'd on. When Zoe's homework actually DID get chewed on by Lola - yep that too was my fault. And then this morning Ethan leaves the video game controllers laying on the floor when he left for school and Lola tried chewing through them too! I caught her before she did to much damage! Oh but that will be my fault too. Apparently me telling them to pick up their belongings and put them away and to close doors to bedrooms is NOT enough on my part, you know along with the cleaning and the cooking and the chauffeuring, and laundry and dog walking and homework help and . . . .

Everyone's back to school today. Remind me that we have to get Science fair forms in by Thursday. Aryn's having trouble getting the photos she needs for her's because it's been so gray and gloomy lately. I'm surprised she hasn't found a way to pin that one on me. Ethan's should be fun! He's going to be building several different types of solar cookers and testing to see which one works the best. Zoe chose one that I've been suggesting for several years now, but because DAD suggested it this year it was cool enough for her to try. Thankfully it's only three projects this year. Our district requires that 3rd, 5th and 6th graders do projects. Third grade MIGHT be just our school and our teachers' requirement but I know they are required by district standards to do them in 5th and 6th grades.

I won tickets to see a youth theatre production of Anne of Green Gables. I think I'm going to take my SIL with me as she would absolutely LOVE this. She's trying to schedule herself off of work that day already!

We are also gearing up in the Art department for the area wide elementary student art show. We only have about a month and a half and SO many projects to get done!!

Blessings,

Garsy

LOL that was pretty funny.

Linz is home sick. She started having swollen lymph nods, she said on tues but didn't tell me till Friday at 4:30. So I called the ENT and got her in today at 10. But she kept getting worse over the weekend so yesterday I took her to urgent care. That place was a joke. They prescribed medication but she dosed her too much. Thankfully I knew what the proper dose was (3 times a day, not 4). When I took her to the ENT today I took the bottle with me. He said to give it to her 3 times a day. UC did give her a good antibiotic. But she said Linz had a cold sore and gave her that zovirax cream. The ENT said it's not a cold sore (and I was PTL for that because I was freaking out about it) and said it looks like it started when her lips got dry, cracked, and it allowed staff infection to invade her body and that started the swollen nodes. What a mess. She'll be home through wednesday for sure.

If ones job is to stay home, where do they go when they want to call in sick?

What's wrong with poppabee?

I forgot all about that stuff when one gets a new puppy. Oh my.

Hey all. Sickness is going around here too. I felt gross last week, dh felt bad on Friday and the kids have felt bad the last few days.

Kath, thanks for the healthy reminder. I'm still down almost 10 lbs., but need to get back on the wagon. Dd started going to work out at our community center, dh jogs daily and is down 45 lbs. and ds is just thin. He was going to do track, but thinks he won't have enough time to do homework. I think he doesn't want to give up "me" time.

Garsy, I feel like everyone is blaming me for whatever goes wrong latley. I had to remind ds today that he needs to be more responsible.

Sweetie said that to me this morning, he told me that my problem is that I think everyone elses problems are my problems.

PBee is still trying, we have been stressed and oh-so-busy so healthy eating is de-proritized. It isn't fair, I eat healthy and he loses weight, that is messed up...

Better days are coming.

Already dealing with school and headaches. And not just J's like we usually do.

The school has decided to be really strict with rules and one of them is that the kids have to have all their books sorted out. One of X's books is on back order even at the publishers.

Kylie, what does this mean? Do your kids go to a public or private school? I know you've probably mentioned it before, but I'm very forgetfull.

They're in private school.

Usually the books aren't an issue as I just pay for the book order through the school. This year we were a bit stretched financially over Christmas so I just bought the books they would need the week before school went back. The only problem with that is that one of X's isn't available.

Gotcha. My kids were in a christian school for awhile and we had to pay a curriculum fee. I'm amazed at how much we have to pay now for public school.

20 years ago yesterday (2-2-90) Sweetie told me I was the only thing he wanted for his birthday and gave me an engagement ring...

Yesterday, he told me that my food was MUCH BETTER than the stuff that so-n-so made and she will brag up her cooking. But she was at a disadvantage this time, I had to make my own and she bought frozen that she put together...

I am about to lose my mind!!!!! Aryn has this Social Studies teacher that just seems to have it in for her!! There were two assignments due one day but due to a school delay or something they both ended up a day late. EVERY child in her class had it marked on their paper and on the online gradebook that these were a day late but he still gave them full credit due for them EXCEPT. . . . Aryn had to make a correction on the writing assignment, which they are allowed to do after they get them back and turned in within a week and get partial credit for it. WELL in the grade book this teacher has it ALL mixed up. He's given her NO credit for the one assignment that we have here as a 100% paper, 33 out of 33. He's given her FULL credit for the assignment that should have had at least a few points taken off AND now he's got her at a ZERO for another assignment that isn't even due, according to his written assignment plan on the schools website til tomorrow!!!!! I KNOW this teacher was expecting another Ty. He adored Ty. Ty came through his class 4 years ago with straight A's barely missing a perfect year by a few percentage points. But Aryn is NOT Ty.

GRRRR! Hubby's going to have to go in and have a conversation with this man. I don't think I would be very civil right now.

Blessings,

Garsy

Ahhhhhhh

Linz is still sick, and the sores are spreading. They sort of look like impetigo sores.

Hi everybody! I am sorry you are all sick (or your kids and spouses). I threw my back out a bit over a week ago and FINALLY, I can move today. My kids are all doing pretty good in school. Our exchange student got out of all his semester finals because he didn't need them. That was cool. He and I spent the day home together.

My daughter Kali is all settled into third grade and my little one Kay is earning a reputation in her class as a stubborn little one. Not sure if I appreciate the teachers telling her that, but then at the same time, when she told us about it, she just said it like it was nothing and moved on to the next thing she wanted to talk about.

What happened is that while at lunch, she wanted to eat a piece of birthday cake I sent before she finished her sandwich. She just had the crust left, and I know she doesn't eat the crust and I don't punish her for it. She eats almost anything we put in front of her so I am not worried about nutrition when it comes to her. But her teachers told her that she was going to finish her sandwich (crust) BEFORE she could have cake and apparently she had something to say about that and one of them told her that she simply couldn't have her cake because she is so stubborn. I don't know if I should be mad or not. I don't think I am mad, but at the same time, my friends are all flipping out because that is no way to talk to a child. But they don't live with my children and while it is true that she is stubborn, and sassy at times, she is also wonderful. And she knows that and maybe that is why the stubborn thing didn't bother her. She was almost proud of it. But then again, should a teacher be telling a 5 year old that they are stubborn???? I don't know. I am not going to say anything to the school, but my friends who also have kids in that school are still telling me I should say something.

Jake is doing great and I am just here shuffling them all around to where they need to get to. I am so tired and sometimes I wish I could rent a hotel room that has a jacuzzi in it one night all by myself, bring a good book and just spend the night in silence. No yelling, screaming, or even talking. No tv either. I just sometimes don't feel like I am being a good parent.

Anyway, off of my pity party. I will check back later.

Some days are like that, too!

Hi Traci!

I haven't been around much, I do my admin duties, check a few threads and go back to sit with Linz. She is pretty miserable. And the sores are speading to her forehead. My poor baby. :(

Hi Roberta!

Good to see you here HeRemains!

I am glad we didn't get enough snow or ice for school to be canceled again.

Kath, I'm sorry Linz is having such a hard time getting better. Did you get the college stuff worked out with your son?

Tracy, I'd be tempted to tell the school to not worry about what my child ate for lunch.

There is talk of a snow day or a two hour delay tomorrow. We are supposed to get 3-4" of snow tonight.
