We started out with a SMALL fake tree when we were first married. I personally hated it! So once we moved into a house we started buying real tree every year. The kids love it. I love it and if we use my SIL's discount at Lowes it's rarely over $15. even for a really nice one. The last few years we've managed nice trees for around $10. I grew up with a real tree. Every year. Then about 20 years ago, my Mom decided that she wanted to put her tree up in early November and not take it down til January. Can't do that with a real tree. She found a nice fake on an after Christmas sale and she's been using that one for 20 years. She also has two much smaller fake trees that are just for special ornaments. Blessings, Garsy

Real. Always. Even at worse times, when I had to wait for after Christmas and get the 1' ones, real.

I grew up in a family with a dog and cat, so we always had an artificial tree; and, as my dh and I have always had pets, we've also always had an artificial tree. The other reason for having an artificial tree is that we wouldn't want a tree to have to be chopped down and effectively wasted just for the sake of decoration.

We're going to set out our artificial Christmas tree as usual. But I truly love the smell of a real one.

I would much rather have a real tree. They come from a tree farm and end up mulched. We bought a live one once and in January planted it in the front yard. Beware, the rootball was extremely heavy and it took a bunch of us to get it into the house. We watered it by putting a dozen ice-cubes on the rootball and letting them melt. We have since moved and don't have room for a tree. I don't like the idea of prelit trees or having to store it for 11 months of the year. I already have two cases full of Christmas decorations.

I mulch my front flower gardens - mostly to keep the weeds down and to keep them looking neat and tidy. I don't mulch my veggie garden. Blessings, Garsy

Get this, because you won't believe it. I live here and sometimes I don't believe it. When we were little and lived in our other house, we always had a real tree. I remember the smell and I remember the needles. When we moved into this house we bought a fake tree. I was in high school by then, my middle sister was in 8th grade and my little sister was in 2nd grade. The fake tree came from this great craft store that was not a chain store and closed up a long time ago. The tree was a really good sale and we had it for years. One day I asked my dad why we had a fake tree when we used to have a real tree. Our fake tree looked real but there was no smell. My dad said because if there was a fire, we wouldn't make it out of the house. Mind you, when I was in grade school, when we had the real tree, there was less of a chance I would get out then when I was in high school or older. 2 or 3 years ago our old tree fell over while it was fully decorated! God was watching over that tree though because even though it fell onto our couch, not a decoration broke! Some of our decorations are older than I am and I'm 55 years old! My dad tried to tie the tree up but that didn't help, it fell over again. My parents had to go and buy a tree. My dad has always hated putting the lights up so we got a prelit tree with multi colored lights. We hate white lights because that's what color your light bulbs are all year. What a pain it was to buy that tree! It took my parents almost all day to get one! Now my dad still needs help with the tree because you have to plug in each set of lights. Let's hope this one lasts as long as our old tree that we got in the 70's but I doubt it.

I have a rotating aluminum tree, with the color wheel from the fabulous 1950's. I bought it at an estate sale.

We use a real tree now but had a fake one for a while. THe day after Thanksgiving we go to a place where we cut it down ourselves. Then after Christmas the township has 2 Sats where they come around and collect them and turn them into mulch and use them for mulching public areas.

we get a real one. one year we got a live rosemary bush that had been pruned to a tree shape and then planted it. they have needles and smell great. with a real tree, we attach guide wires to door or window frames and use unbreakable ornaments so it can't be knocked over. that way Cat can do a little climbing and batting.

We had real trees for several years--and a kitten with claws one of those years. The tree was up and decorated and oh, so pretty. Then crash. The cat had knocked the tree over. I picked the tree up, put the ornaments back on that had fallen over, threw away the broken ones and swept up the broken glass, turned and left the room. Crash again! After the third time of picking up that tree I called my husband at work to come home and secure the tree. He took a large piece of plywood and nailed the base of the tree to the plywood. The tree was safe and secure the rest of the holiday! By the following the year the kitten was a mature cat and didn't care about the tree anymore.

We've done both and had a memorable time going to a tree farm and cutting one down. We had leaking with both our real trees and our pets liked the water. I'm going to fogo a tree this year and do real wreaths.

We always had a real tree growing up. Always had pets too, what is the issue with pets and real trees? Now we have a fake one. It's just to dry for a real tree to last from Thanksgiving until after Christmas, even with proper watering. They become a huge fire hazard and we don't like that risk.

We have two artificial trees. We used to go to the tree farms and cut the tree down every year but the novelty of that wore off when the kids got older and didn't want to go anymore. I like the smell of a real tree but I am sick of looking at the dead thing by the time we take it down. I usually ended up getting a rash from all the poking the needles gave taking the ornaments down. I prefer the artificial trees over dead trees.
