Is it typical for groups to hire drivers?? I know I have heard different groups talk about driving their own bus, particularly Brian Free and Assurance. Randy Crawford mentioned driving the other day on his facebook page. Also, I have seen some funny video of Derrick Selph directing traffic and trying to direct Bill Shivers to get the bus backed out of a tight parking lot. Driving yourself could really save a group some money over time.

Randy Crawford mentioned driving the other day on his facebook page. Also, I have seen some funny video of Derrick Selph directing traffic and trying to direct Bill Shivers to get the bus backed out of a tight parking lot. Driving yourself could really save a group some money over time. D.O.T. FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) regulations http://www.fmcsa.dot.gov/rules-regulations/administration/fmcsr/fmcsrruletext.aspx?section=395.5 says a bus driver can only drive 10 hours and/or be on duty for a total of 15 hours before an 8 hour break is required. So if the group member that drives after the concert is in the venue at load in time say 4:00PM, and they perform and help load out, on the average it would be about 11:00 PM. So if they had 8 full hours of bunk time before load in time, that means they have already been on duty for 7 hours. Thus, they could only drive for eight more hours. However after being up for 7 hours (non driving) most drivers would not be in very good or safe position to drive. Eight hours of driving time would, on the average of 55 mph (this would include most stops), be about 400 miles. Look at the average miles a lot of groups travel from venue to venue each night. Yes any other members that drive would fall under the same regulations. Some say that their buses are motorhomes or RVs, however when looked at carefully, most are titled in the groups name, which technically makes it a commercial vehicle, making the drivers subject to the D.O.T. F.M.C.S.A Save the group money over the long run, yes, however safety of the ENTIRE group should override any money saved. Just my former Safety Director for 30 years opinion. I hadn't heard anyone say anything about it. It is a powerful song.

CODY IS NOT LEAVING! I posted on his facebook page as a joke.."Hate that you are leaving, but I know it's been your dream to play handbells in a band of traveling gypsies." It was a total joke. Didn't think anybody would think that was serious. :)

Funneee <not>. What a relief. Shame on anyone for not picking up on the "little" joke. haha Hand bells ... how cute. Hey, Bro. Josh, a stroke of good fortune here ... managed to snag "The Kingsmen Live At The University of Alabama" LP album on ebay. Been wanting the version of "When Crossing Time Shall Come" recorded on that album featuring the incredible Ernie Phillips.

Hey! Does anybody know the songs that are going to be on the Kingsmen's new DVD? Is it out yet? I haven't seen it on the Kingsmen's website (store), so that's why I ask. If anyone has it, I would LOVE to hear about it!

Heard the Kingsmen this past Saturday night. They are sounding the best in quite a while. Cody is a great piano player and they have a great lineup. The older Ray gets the better he sounds.
