Melissa woke up in the middle of the night with another horrible migraine. She will be admitted to the hospital sometime today - all of her family is coming and she wants to see them before she goes in. Our doc is getting her involved with a specific program for intractable migraines.

I hope it's OK to post this. Many of you remember Jennyfair who used to post here. Her son Brandon had an accident and severed an artery and a nerve. He has has surgery to have both of these repaired. Her blog with the account of the accident can be found here.

I am home from the hospital and am resting. I think that they have my migraines under control. I am on a couple of preventative meds and am hoping that going forward things will be much better. If they continue, we have a plan to increase the dose of my meds, and possibly get me into that migraine program if needed. I am so thankful for getting good care from good doctors!!

This is a really stupid request...but it needs prayer anyway. Today I lost my cell phone at work...we (son, co-worker, hubby) spent 1 1/2 hours looking for it (by calling it and retracing steps...all at the same time).

We even went through the trash dumpster.

My grandfather is in his last days. I would like to see him hold on another 1.5 weeks but that is not likely to happen. The next 1.5 weeks are so important to DD2

1. Friday is her bday. She is having a friend spend the night and DS will be at my parents' house. DD1 is still on her missions trip.
2. DD1 is still on her missions trip. She returns Sat at noon although they are in the city here so I can get her if necessary.
3. DD2 is signed up to attend Hoop Camp at the school where I work next week. She even paid half the cost herself. SHe will be crushed to miss it...especially for another funeral.

THis will mean a 12+ hr drive to Wheaton, IL and probably 5-7 days away from home. My uncle is already working on funeral arrangements so when the time come it can go quickly.

please pray for me again. I have a small kidney stone that is trying to move lower in my kidney and is causing a lot of pain. Nothing to do but wait....just pray that I have the stamina to be nice while this is going on and to do all the things I need to do.

Also...pray for me in another area. I am the Children's Ministry Coordinator for our church...and we are having an awful year. A couple of events have gone well, and this has been our best AWANA year ever...but I cannot get anyone to sign up for VBS...which is in 3 weeks. We have had the sign ups up for over 3 months now. We've begged, pleaded and prayed. At this point we will probably have to cancel VBS...the reason I need prayer for me is that I am very ANGRY and DISGUSTED over it.....it just bothers me that every year we have to fight to do VBS....

Our church is dying....and no one seems to understand that it is because we don't raise our children in the Lord...or outreach to families with children....

I can deal with a lot of things..but inertia and complacency I have little patience for....and that is why I need your prayers.

Just a prayer request from an ex-homeschooler. I am having a very rough day and I could really use some peace. I don't want to cry while I am working this evening. It doesn't make for good customer service.

My grandfather finally passed away. We will be getting ready tomorrow, driving out on Sunday, service on Tuesday, drive home on Wed. Monday I should be able to go see the gravesite of my paternal grandparents. GM died in March and I never knew GP.

I think I posted awhile back that one of the docs I used to work with was diagnosed with brain cancer. He passed away Friday. They have 9 children who are homeschooled. Please pray for Regina and the kids. John was a good doctor and one of the nicest guys I've ever met. He will be missed.

Found out last night my daughter has been living a lie again. It was extremely childish and immature the way she handled it when she was caught. This mean some really hard choices for us as parents. Please pray for us: comfort, wisdom, courage, resolve and to have no other gods before the One True Living God our Father.

Thank you for your prayers. God is at work in our lives. The Lord revealed to me more things *I* needed to repent to my daughter for, and I did repent to her with tears and I believe that a healing is working in her heart because of it.

And now her lie does not seem so big to me. Sort of like, he who is without sin among you, let him cast the first stone. And so I have to walk away beseeching the Lord for mercy and pardon to me instead of railing at the sin of others.

This seems like sort of a trivial prayer request, but I know God is concerned about even our seemingly trivial woes! I have lost/misplaced our checkbook! The last time I remember having it was at the commissary. The good thing is there are no checks in it, but it still has our name, address etc... & account number on the duplicates. So far, no unusual activitiy has showed up on our account. I'm going to call the commissary as soon as they open to see if someone turned it in.

Praise and prayer requests

Praise:

Last week...my husband was putting away his motor scooter after work. I get a call on the phone...from him in the backyard....to bring a hoe or shovel. A copperhead had found its way into our shed...and he had its head trapped under the ramp board.....My oldest daughter took a whack at it with the shovel...but only cut it....I took the hoe and decapitated it. The praise...that when my husband's hand was only 1/2 inch away from the snake when he first pulled out the ramp...that the snake was too sleepy/stunned to strike.

Prayer:

Both our family vehicles are dead. DEAD.....and getting a newer one is hard right now for a million reasons.....and the fact that it cannot be any smaller than a mini-van as there are 7 of us.......

Father, I lift up Ellie to you simply to say that we care about her well-being just as you do. And we care about davy-crockett and know this is stressful for him, too. May they both feel your presence in a special way as they deal with this condition. May you be Glorified in both their lives.

By the way, I know the man in the image you use as your avatar. And, the reason I know him is that my friends always think that's me in picture. We look exactly alike. I was able to track him down through a greeting card company and we've had some hilarious conversations.

We ain't all that pretty; but, we are a LOT of fun!

Lord, sometimes Your greatest Glory is revealed in our lowest hours. It's been a while since JuliaHop asked for prayer; but, it is never too late to care for a sister and tell you that we care how she is doing in her life. May you move her closer and closer to the very center of Your Will each and every day that you might be Glorified in her life, no matter what comes into her life. Bring her peace, joy and patience as she is enveloped in love for you.

Growing up in the country in Virginia, copperheads were a constant concern. One of the early signs that they are around is sometimes a smell like cucumbers. When I worked in my grandfather's sawmill when we smelled cucumbers we'd abandon that area fast.

Lord, you know better than we do just how important these vehicles are to W.O.F.s family. We pray that your Glory will be demonstrated through this need. We don't know what you are going to do. But, we do know that you are always with is in our greatest needs and we rejoice in your constant care for us. We look forward to seeing how you will demonstrate your Glory in this situation in a very clear and wonderful way.

I just got a text from Melissa's husband. She is back in the ER with another unbearable migraine.

Please help me pray. I am so ticked off right now that all I can do is sputter.

I forgot when I was on earlier to post this prayer request. Could you all please pray for our church. Our senior Pastor has been on a break for the past month. He returned Sunday & announced that he is stepping down. It wasn't a complete shock. I think God has been leading him to this decision for a while now. He is the founding Pastor of this church. We have a great staff, but I'm not sure if anyone is prepared to step into the role. They have been filling in for the summer, but I'm not sure they can keep that up. Our Youth minister is well a YOUTH minister (that's where his specialty lies). Our other Pastor is only part time & has a business of his own that he runs. He is a GREAT teacher & has been a lead Pastor in another church, but I'm not sure that is where he wants/needs to be right now. Anyway, our church is in a transition time & could really use some prayer!

Yesterday afternoon I developed itching, sore lips, and what look like bug bites or welts.
This morning my face is swollen and the welts have spread.

I finished the antibiotic I was on on Sunday morning and don't know if this is a reaction to that or if I have an infedtion of some sort.
