He told that at the Bible study at NQC last year. Thought I'd die from laughing!

Another one that was pretty good was one he told when I saw them on July 22nd. I know there are different variations of this one but this is what he said that night. He was talking about the shape-note singing that they sometimes do and how a guy at a concert in Washington the week before had come up to him with tears in his eyes after the show and said how beautiful that song was, especially when they sang the second verse in Cherokee!

Okay, what is everybody's favorite joke that Gerald tells?

For me it has to be the one from their Atlanta Celebration DVD with the Specks. The one Gerald tells about Rodney speaking at a graveside funeral service. I almost fell out of my chair when he got to the punchline!

Please tell it!! Not all of us get to hear the jokes (I ain't never been to a GV concert ....................yet )

I like the one that Gerald tells about their trip to Hungary. The one where they are passengers on a train and Rodney bites the banana just as they enter a tunnel!!!! If anyone wants me to tell the story, just say so! OR, IF GERALD SEES THIS, MAYBE HE WOULD TELL IT! It is a scream!

I would tell it but I am not the best at repeating jokes and I know a lot would get lost in translation. Mavbe GVFan can tell it.

My dad told that so many times before Gerald was born that I'm already tired of it ... well, he's not exactly that much older than Gerald, but anyway I'd probably heard it a few times before GV was born. If I were Rodney, I wouldn't/couldn't take it!

Me too! I love Greater vision all the present and past members, and i have most of all their product, but wish i could find a copy of their first CD, the ultra rare one that nobody can find.

My favorite item of theirs that i own is their Christmas album on 33 1/3 its a red record! that was a great idea to print those up!

I keep searching on eBay for some of the old stuff (plus Gerald's solo recordings), but I haven't been successful. Anyone know anywhere else I might find the old stuff??

I hear ya! I was SO looking forward to GV being at Word of Life in Schroon Lake NY this year, but it never happened. The only group up there we follow is L5. I see they are at Word of Life in Fla, but that is quite a hike from upstate NY. I have been blessed to see them live 3 times now.

my favorite songs they do is "I Sing The Mighty Power of God" & "It Is Well With My Soul" I have never seen anyone put so much of themselves into those songs. I get those glory bumps from top to bottom....

My favorite new song is Rodney's "We Have Come To Seek Your Face", Lamb of God, giver of grace, your worth of, our highest praise, so we have come, to seek your face. GREAT STUFF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Try rummaging around in Gerald's garage.

Meaning Gerald's solo career was unsuccessful?

Probably not. But that's okay. It distracted him long enuf to let Roger come back to Cathedrals.

It wasn't a big success. Southern Gospel wasn't really set up for a soloist at that point. As a matter of fact, despite the plethora of soloists out there, there's yet to be one who has a drawing power anywhere near that of one of the big groups, I think.

Well, Daniel, that's another unique trait of SG: it is a group-oriented genre.
