Except toy guns and real guns aren't the same thing, nor do the skills/instincts that exist in one realm necessarily translate to the other. My point was that there is no evidence to suggest that playing with toy guns leads to a higher accident rate among children. Evidence suggests that better education and training among gun owners in terms of safe storage and proper handling is what causes the accident rate to go down.
IMO, the best way to create an instinct of care is to train them with a real gun.
