I want to be on Facebook, but I'm not sure if I should or not. I do have an account, but I had to deactivate it due to problems with my computer's security software after using one or more applications. Also, I'm wondering if God really wants me to be on there in the first place, like He's protecting me from something. It seems like anytime I want to do something where my real name might be used, like on Facebook, my computer seems to go haywire or just doesn't want to work as well.

Now I'm wondering if I should try Facebook again, but I don't want the same problems that I had last time. I never watched any videos and will not be using applications again, but I really want to be on there, since finding out that a good friend of mine recently joined Facebook. I guess that I'm PC paranoid, but just don't know what to do about this issue. Right now, I cannot afford to buy another computer, due to limited finances.

What would you suggest I do about this?

Ditto what Dan said.

Well, after some deliberating and praying, I reactivated my account, but have turned off all applications. I can't add photos to it, but I can just send them by email anyway, so that's good enough for me.

Exactly.

I don't play the Facebook games (like Farmville) that others play. I use it to keep up with friends and family and coworkers and fellow church members and people I knew from high school. I get to see photos of people's kids.

And if someone starts using lots of curse words or talking stupid stuff, then I either hide the person or unfriend him/her.

Facebook is what you make it. And you can decide how to use it and how often to be on it and how long to be on it. Don't let it control you.

I don't play any of the games on facebook. Have never wanted to. I actually block them if it's offered to me. I only have a few applications that I use. I agree with Elena. If somebody curses etc, hide the person or unfriend them.

I don't play any games. I don't friend anybody and everybody. Because I don't want some people to know what's going on in my life, I don't use my real name. But my real friends quickly figured otu my screen name.

I play Farmville. It's an addiction I know but it's sooooo fun!!!

I also use it to spy on my former classmates and keep up on people's lives.

I have two accounts. One is for family and friends the other one is for politics and personal interests that were overtaking the news feed. I like keeping up with them but I was missing family postings for stupid stuff. I block almost all applications especially the games. I have almost all of my settings limited to specific people as I mainly want to keep up with my family who live out of state and out of country.

I set up a second account to keep up with political stuff in order to say what I want and to keep the peace with my family, especially my very liberal sister. I love her but she can be a pain over some issues. I don't check the other account daily though. The last time I checked that account a couple days ago I had a message that someone was attempting to log in on it from Scottsdale, AZ. So I changed my passwords on both accounts and checked the privacy settings.

I play games. I have a ton of friends. I've never had any issues. I dont allow just ANY applications, I dont click on random "likes" and videos. My pastor mentioned facebook in his sermon Sunday, how while it shouldnt be used in PLACE of face to face witnessing, it can still be an awesome tool and a great way to profess your faith.

I love Facebook.... a great place to share photos and fun with friends.
It's also a great way to make and share prayer requests.
I don't play games.
I don't do applications.
My privacy settings are set exactly where I want them to be.
And I probably have at least 40 Crosswalkers on my friends list!

I like facebook. I used to play farmville and the like, however, for some reason, Facebook, and its Flash software seemed to hate my computer, so I stopped playing games and such. I still use it from time to time, but I rarely ever post anything personal other than my facebook email(just for facebook) and that I live in the US. Everyone I talk to knows that already, so why would I need to put any personal info.
