Oh, I have whines. I've just kept them to myself lately.

Whine--

I haven't had the same pastor for more than a few years at a time since I left high school.

I don't live or die by pastors, but it would be nice to have a little more stability.

Most of our pastors have averaged 6 years. Our last one stayed 12 years. The current one has been here 9. A lot can be said for certain pastors moving along to.... bless other congregations.

More of a pity party than whining...

Without going into details, I left the church for about 4yrs. God brought along a great friend who lead me back. When I was ready to start attending church I googled the churches on a road that I drive all the time. One really peaked my interest--except it wasn't on that road. Not a clue how it came up! Anyway, I went and it turned out to be "the" church for me. Worship is okay, but one of the pastors is great. I look forward to weeks that he preaches. I met with him for counseling and he was great.

I learned last week that this pastor is leaving this summer to plant a church. While I am very happy for him and know that he is going to be a great blessing to this new church, I am bumming! I don't want my pastor to leave!

WOW! Can I ever relate to that Euty!

Why can't Church;

a) have refreshments during service?
b) those lil tv's like they used to have at airports, so when something comes up that doesn't interest me, or I become bored - I can just watch tv?
c) be at a more convenient time for me - say around 3 pm?
d) have easy chairs, instead of the pews?

lol

Currently my church is working on creating an "Authentic Biblical Community".

That is not my whine.
My whine is that some of the leaders don't really understand the concept of "authenticity", especially when it comes to certain view points on how leadership is handling situations in the church, or in the certain kinds of opinions that are voiced. Seems like they want "authenticity", but aren't willing to hear/listen to honest opinions because it can "hurtful". How does one practice authenticity, when nobody is willing to listen to what we have to say?

My whine: I literally cannot always stay awake in church. I work third shift, and I work every weekend. I come to church on Sunday morning after having put in a 10 hour shift, and I can't stay awake. I feel so rude. People understand and don't say anything, but I don't like it. I usually do okay in Sunday School, and through the music part of the worship service, and then through a lot of the sermon, but then if the pastor preaches for a while, I'm out. Not always--it seems to run in cycles. I stay awake really well for a few months, and then I can't. Lately, I can't. I don't mind the pastor going long in his sermons--I really don't! He's a very good pastor. I just wish I could hear the whole thing a little more often.

Here's a helpful tip; take a pocket tape recorder, and tape it! ;)

Not a whine, but more the opposite. I stayed awake in church today!

If somebody saw my whine and prayed for me, thank you!

Why can't I click the choice on the poll that says do not click this? That's like putting a big red button on the wall and saying do not push. It is tempting me to click it, which is causing me to stumble, which means that when I do click it it's really all your fault for saying do not click it.

There. That's my whine. Oh, and one time I had to go to a church with mauve carpet. I happen to know God hates mauve because He is a guy.

P.S. Euty's avatar is making me want to get some Welch's grape juice and watch Iron Chef Morimoto

I don't know if it was discussed here or not, but here's my Whiner's list hahaha:

- When elders wear golf clothes to service
- When people talk during service
- When the church is too conservative or too liberal
- When the pastor limits the praise team to just the piano and singing
- When we sing hymns ( I like lyrics, but not the melody haha)
- When people act is if they are a True Christian, but behave otherwise
- When people fight in church over trivial matters
- When you realize there are too many cliques
- When you realize that I am in a clique
- When people fight in "Bible ping-pong", attacking with bible quotes
- When there are too many problems in the church and among the congregation

Lol the list is long and endless I believe haha :)

I work for a bunch of brilliant people! (no sarcasm at all!) LOL

And I whine because I'm frustrated with life in all generalness and generalness is not even a word!
